Czapek is a historic name in Swiss watchmaking, tracing its origins to François Czapek, who established Czapek & Cie in Geneva in 1845. Revived in the modern era by a community of watch enthusiasts, the Maison combines its nineteenth-century heritage with a contemporary and distinctly independent approach to haute horlogerie.

Introduced in 2020, the Antarctique collection represents Czapek’s interpretation of the luxury sports watch, uniting refined finishing, everyday versatility and an integrated design. The Passage de Drake preserves the collection’s elegant yet dynamic case architecture while introducing a unique visual identity of its own.

One of the model’s defining elements is its signature 'Stairway to Eternity' dial, distinguished by a striking three-dimensional pattern. Developed as an exclusive design for Czapek, the motif creates an evolving interplay of light and shadow while giving the Passage de Drake an immediately recognisable character. The date display is positioned at 6 o’clock, preserving the vertical symmetry of the dial.

The stainless-steel case is characterised by carefully sculpted surfaces and Czapek’s refined combination of polished and brushed finishes, emphasising its architectural construction.

Visible through the sapphire crystal case back is the self-winding Calibre SXH5, the first movement entirely conceived by Czapek from the ground up. Its architecture is distinguished by an off-centred micro-rotor and seven openworked bridges, allowing much of the mechanical construction to remain visible, offering a thoroughly modern interpretation of independent watchmaking.

Combining an integrated sports-watch design with an original dial execution and a finely finished proprietary movement, the Antarctique Passage de Drake has become one of the most representative creations of the contemporary Czapek manufacture.

The present example, sold in 2024, is accompanied by its original box and warranty. Furthermore, the timepiece is offered complete with an additional stainless-steel bracelet with maximun lenght for a wrist of 20,0 cm circa (16 Total Links) and a second rubber strap matching the colour of the dial. Very well preserved, it now awaits its next caretaker.
