It was the first watch to feature a tachymeter scale on the bezel instead of on the dial—a design innovation that has since become standard in chronograph watchmaking. The Speedmaster later earned legendary status as the first watch worn on the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, becoming Omega's most iconic model. The Speedmaster Chronoscope continues that legacy with a refined blend of vintage inspiration and modern craftsmanship. Housed in a 43mm stainless steel case, it builds on the classic Speedmaster design with a subtle 1mm increase in proportions. Powering the watch is Omega's Co-Axial Master Chronometer Caliber 9908, a hand-wound movement that honors the Speedmaster's heritage while delivering state-of-the-art performance. This METAS-certified caliber ensures exceptional accuracy (0 to +5 seconds per day), resistance to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss, and enhanced longevity through reduced internal friction. The dial is what truly distinguishes this model. Finished in a deep blue—a rare hue within the Speedmaster lineup—it features raised Arabic numerals and, most notably, a dial layout inspired by early 20th-century chronographs. Complementing the tachymeter on the matching blue bezel, the dial is printed with white telemeter and pulsometer scales arranged in the distinctive "snail" pattern. These historic scales are far from merely decorative; the telemeter measures distance based on sound, while the pulsometer tracks heart rate via the chronograph. Together, they are seamlessly integrated into a dial that perfectly balances complexity with clarity.
