The year 1957 marked a pivotal moment in Omega's history with the launch of three legendary tool watches: the Railmaster, designed for scientists and engineers; the Speedmaster, a chronograph created for timing motorsports that would later achieve legendary status as the first watch worn on the moon; and the Seamaster 300, the first "Professional" model in the Seamaster line. Designed for the growing diving community, this new diver's watch improved on its predecessor with 200 meters of certified water resistance, though Omega believed it could withstand depths of 300—hence the name.
