Rolex Daytona 116509 The early Daytona models were equipped with manual movements, but a significant milestone occurred in 1988 with the introduction of the ref. 16520—the first self-winding Daytona. This new model, launched in the late 1980s, quickly gained widespread acclaim, thanks to its modernized design and key enhancements, such as a larger 40mm case featuring crown guards. In 2000, Rolex unveiled the six-digit reference Daytona watches at Baselworld, marking another major evolution. These models replaced the previous Zenith El Primero movements with Rolex’s own in-house Caliber 4130. Building on this momentum, Rolex expanded the collection in 2004 by introducing the full white gold Daytona ref. 116509, complete with a matching white gold Oyster bracelet. The 116509 remained in Rolex’s production lines for almost 20 years. This particular example is dated from 2021 and is in like new condition. The watch features a stunning blue dial that complements really well the white gold case. The watch is complete with its box, papers and warranty.
