ROLEX GMT-MASTER 1675 The GMT has been a milestone in Rolex collections since its introduction in 1954. Originally developed in collaboration with Pan American World Airways, it reflected the growing importance of the aviation industry in the 1950s. With the increase in long-distance flights, pilots and crew needed a precise way to track multiple time zones simultaneously. That's why Rolex launched the GMT Master for Pan Am. The distinctive feature of the GMT was the bezel with the 24-hour indication, which allowed users to track two time zones at once. This innovation was made possible by the fourth hand, which displayed the 24 hours and allowed the second time zone to be set on the rotating bezel. Introduced in 1959, the reference 1675 succeeded the original GMT-Master 6542, bringing several innovations to the model. One significant update was the addition of the crown guard, which not only enhanced the watch's water resistance but also reinforced its overall structure. Another major innovation was the transition from fragile bakelite bezels to more durable aluminum bezels. The GMT-Master 1675 remained in production for 21 years before it was eventually discontinued, marking an era of enduring popularity and reliability for this iconic timepiece. This timepiece is dated from 1968. It features an amazing black gilt dial and a very nice bicolor faded aluminum bezel. The watch is in excellent condition.
