Description
1709005 Rolex Bombay 6092 - White Honeycomb Dial - Oxidised 18K Yellow Gold Case
ROLEX BOMBAY 6092
In the late 1940s, Rolex introduced a new model with a distinctive design, characterized by its unique spiral-shaped lugs with a rounded profile. These models are widely known among collectors and enthusiasts as the Rolex Bombay, even though this term was never officially used by Rolex in any of their publications. They were primarily made in 14kt and 18kt gold in both yellow and pink tones, though a few rare examples were also produced in steel. The origin of this nickname comes from the term "bomb\u00e9", used to describe the curved profile of the lugs. Over time, the word was mispronounced, eventually leading to the current, widely recognized but likely incorrect name. This particular example is made of 14K Yellow gold and features an extraordinary white honeycomb dial. Due to the strong oxidation of the gold, serial number and reference engraved on the case are slightly visible.
