Omega Speedmaster Professional “Silver Snoopy Award” - N.O.S. - Full Set

In the 1960s, NASA chose Snoopy—the beloved beagle from Peanuts—as a safety mascot to promote mission awareness in a relatable way. In 1968, the Silver Snoopy Award was created to honor individuals and companies for exceptional contributions to flight safety and mission success. In 1970, Omega received this prestigious award for its vital role in the Apollo 13 mission. After an explosion crippled the spacecraft, astronaut Jack Swigert used his Omega Speedmaster to time a critical 14-second engine burn, helping guide the crew safely back to Earth. Omega first celebrated this honor in 2003 with the Speedmaster Snoopy Award ref. 3578.51.00, featuring Snoopy on the small seconds subdial and the phrase “Eyes on the Stars.” In 2015, the brand released a second edition ref. 311.32.42.30.04.003 marking the 45th anniversary of Apollo 13. It featured a black-and-white design, Snoopy at 9 o’clock, and the phrase “What could you do in 14 seconds?” along the minute track. The present timepiece is the final model in this iconic lineage, launched in 2020 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Silver Snoopy Award. It features a sterling silver dial, as shown by the subtle ​​”Ag925” text at the centre of the dial, with vivid blue subdials and a matching blue ceramic bezel. The hands and indices are also blue, and Snoopy, dressed in a spacesuit, appears at 9 o’clock alongside the “50th Anniversary” inscription. While the front displays a beautifully executed and unique design, the caseback is equally impressive. When the chronograph is activated, a small Apollo spacecraft carrying Snoopy orbits the caseback, floating above Earth for exactly 14 seconds before disappearing behind the Moon—and if that’s not enough, Earth also rotates once per minute.
