However, one notable change was the shift from white gold surrounds to black surrounds on 'Polar' variants. Later examples of the 16570 introduced the 'no-holes' case, eliminating the lug holes for bracelet attachment, while earlier versions typically featured the 'holey' lugs design. By the early 2000s, Rolex had phased out punched lugs from their catalog. Initially, the 16570 models used tritium lume, marked "SWISS-T<25" at the base of the dial. By 1998, Rolex transitioned to non-radioactive Luminova, with dials marked "SWISS" for models produced between 1998 and 1999.
