The Girard-Perregaux Laureato was introduced in 1975, even though the name was adopted later, as the Manufacture’s interpretation of the luxury sports watch, combining a distinctive octagonal bezel with an integrated bracelet and a carefully balanced interplay of polished and satin-finished surfaces. Over the following decades, the collection evolved through several generations while preserving the strong architectural identity of the original design.
Introduced during the 2000s, the Laureato EVO3 represented the sportier evolution of the model. Its more substantial proportions, faceted bezel and robust bracelet architecture gave the collection a more contemporary and technical character, while remaining immediately recognisable as part of the Laureato family.
This example, reference 8018, combines this distinctive case design with an elaborate automatic chronograph display. Its dial incorporates multiple subsidiary indications, a challenge often associated with chronographs featuring a date function, as the additional indications can compromise visual symmetry. Girard-Perregaux addressed this challenge by introducing a fourth counter dedicated to the date, creating a highly functional and legible composition while maintaining the symmetry and visual refinement traditionally associated with the Maison. The brand signature is rendered in red at twelve o’clock above the date counter, interrupting the tachymeter scale and matching the red accents of the graphics and chronograph hand.
The white-dial configuration with black outer chronograph counters creates an elegant contrast while preserving the sporty character of the timepiece. Altogether, the Laureato Chronograph EVO3 represents a bold interpretation of Girard-Perregaux’s integrated-bracelet sports watch, combining distinctive design, chronograph functionality and practical everyday usability.
The present example, preserved in very good condition showing signs of normal wear consistent with age and use, is accompanied by its original box, outer box (damaged), warranty and booklet, further enhancing the watch’s provenance and collectability.
